How to Convince Your Parents to Get You a Pet

Image result for puppyIn this topic, I will focus on how to convince your parents to get you a pet! This should work on most house pets, but if you want something such as a Bengal tiger, I’m sorry, I can’t help with that. Follow these steps and you may achieve your goal! (I have not tried these techniques so they may not work as planned.)

  1. Make a list. A list is a numbered sequence of events. Such as this, you can state why having a pet would be good for your family, and yourself.
  2. List the Pros and Cons. Pros are good things that come from your subject, and Cons are bad things that may happen. I suggest making a T-chart to prove your point. If there are more Cons then Pros, try to find solutions for those Cons.
  3. Ask your friends what its like to have a pet, or how they got their parents to get them a pet. Some friends inherited the pets from people who did not want them anymore, and some just got it from a breeder. Some parents would let you buy a pet then on, but others are more stern about it. Maybe your friends adopted the pet with their own money. If your friends do say pets are tiring, then you should think more about it.
  4. Write an essay. This is one of the most boring things, but it is what it is. You can search for outlines for your essay, and make sure you make a draft. Your essay should state why getting a pet is a good idea, and why it isn’t. But make sure you write solutions to those problems. You should also make a counter-argument in your essay, which should state the point of view of the other side, a.k.a why you should not get a pet, but make sure you prove your point is better! Also, check your spelling and grammar, and use quotes from websites.
  5. Know the cost. Pets are costly, even if you adopt, or get an old one. Keep in mind that your pet needs $100 worth vet visits per month, and food, as well as toys, beds, furniture, etc. Remember that many pets, such as dogs, rip up toys real easily, so you will need to buy them more often. You may have to get your pet insurance, so if they get badly injured, insurance will mainly pay for everything. Insurance goes to about $40 a month.
